The topic types/styles of communication is important to my profession as a speech pathologist. As a speech pathologist I will have to evaluate and treat speech, language, voice, swallowing and cognitive communication disorders. Many of my clients will have hearing impairments, meaning I will have to communicate with my clients through non-verbal communication, for me to understand how and what needs to be done in oder for me to help my client reach their treatment goal. Through both verbal and non-verbal communication, I will be able to communicate my clients effectively, through understanding, respect and trust.
